Jesus Christ (5/4 BCE – 31 BCE) is the unique and most famous Person in the history of mankind from whose birth an entire era counts. According to calculations from the birth of John the Baptist and Jesus (Luke 1 and 2), and the schedule of priesthood service (1 Diary 24: 1-19), Jesus was born in the month of September according to today’s calendar. “Jesus” is a Greek variant of the Hebrew name “Yeshua” or “Yeshua” meaning “the Lord is salvation.” The Greek word “Christ” has the same meaning as the Hebrew word “Messiah” (literally: Masiah) and means “Anointed One” or “someone assigned to a mission.” The Messianic mission of Jesus Christ from God is the most important mission in the history of the universe – the salvation of mankind: “But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship.” (Gal. 4: 4,5) Therefore, Jesus Christ is the only qualified and authorized of God Mediator between men and God: “For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus..” (1 Tim. 2: 5)
According to the Bible, God the Father is the Source of Life, and His Son – Jesus Christ – the Channel of Life: “But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.”
“For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus…” (1 Timothy 2: 5)
The coming of Christ is the crowning indisputable proof of God’s love for fallen humanity, and of His purpose to save us.
By the transgression of the law of God, the first people God created became mortal. Humans have willingly canceled obedience to God even though they were cunningly cited by Satan, an angelic being who had previously rebelled in Heaven against God’s order of government. All men in the history of mankind, according to the Bible, are biological descendants of the first married couple God created – Adam and Eve. Each man inherits the consequences of the transgression of the law of God by our forefathers Adam and Eve, and that is, above all, death.
We can read in the Bible that God’s love for His creatures is exalted and incomprehensible to man. Because of such love for man, as the Bible informs us, God had a plan of salvation ready in eternity before the very act of creation. The essence of God’s purpose with humanity is expressed in these words: ” For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” (John 3: 16,17)
The basic motive of Christ is written in the prophecy: Then I said, “Behold, I come; In the scroll of the book it is written of me.I delight to do Your will, O my God, And Your law is within my heart.” (Psalm 40: 7,8) The plan of salvation essentially meant that God’s only begotten Son would come to earth, be born as a man, identify with his own creatures, take on sin and die, to redeem men under the jurisdiction of the law of God seeking the death of sinners.
Descending to the level of man, Christ manifested the divine character of self-sacrificing love. He agreed to fall upon Him all that we deserve so that we may live through Him. It was the only way to save man eternal separation from God and death. But here the intention of the Father and the Son with the Plan of salvation does not stop. Thanks to this unique demonstration of God’s love, the connection with humanity will become unbreakable, and angels and all other creatures who have not fallen will have eternal testimony of God’s character, forever bringing them all together into one family, without any danger of evil being re-established: “That He lavished on us. With all wisdom and understanding, He made known to us the mystery of His will according to His good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment—to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ. (Ephesians 1: 8- 10) “When all things are subjected to him, then the Son himself will also be subjected to him who put all things in subjection under him, that God may be all in all.” (1 Corinthians 15:28)
Christ who is one with God the Father agreed to become one with the fallen man (Hebrews 2: 14-17), to save us!
So God has a legal basis that he can give life again to people who die from the consequences of sin. God promised to do so at the end of the history of planet Earth, by resurrection, in an event known as Christ’s Second Coming.
The condition for resurrection is for people to accept Jesus as their personal Savior and God’s plan of salvation by faith, and faith implies not only declarative acceptance but also a life of obedience in accordance with the faith described in the Bible. Faith in Jesus Christ is the only meaning of man’s life.
For those who are just beginning to become acquainted with the biblical God, we may recommend, for a start, to read the Holy Bibile and the Holy Gospels daily. The Holy Bible explains in detail who Jesus Christ is, what His role is in relation to man, and how true faith in Christ can save one from eternal death and help gain eternal life …
