Soccer player Marko Jovanovic survived a great life drama. He went through hell, thought he had cancer and survived a very difficult ordeal during his stay in Poland. Jovanovic got sick, and the initial diagnosis sounded awful. Fortunately, detailed analyzes showed that it was not as serious a disease as it seemed at first. Marko is back in football. He sent a letter to one father seeking to disclose how Saint Nectarios had helped him.
“My name is Marko Jovanovic and this way I want to fulfill my promise I made to Saint Nectarius – to announce the miracle that Saint has healed me and help me not to drink very dangerous drugs that would endanger my career because I am a professional soccer player … Last year doctors found an autoimmune disease called ‘sarcoidosis’, which thank God was in its mildest form, “reads Jovanovic’s letter.
The Serbian born soccer player described what he went through.
“Because I also had a spout of water around my heart, they suspected that the disease had passed to my heart as well, so I had to do additional tests. Within seven days, I was given two very serious tests to determine if the disease also affected my heart, because if it did I would have to drink a lot of strong corticosteroids, which, as I said, would call into question the continuation of my career. In fact it would be very hard for me to get back into soccer again. “
After the first examination, he was called by the Visle club doctor.
“He told me that some changes had been noticed in my heart and that I would probably have to take those pills. Although, he told me, it was not definitive yet because the doctor who was taking care of me did not want to tell me anything about it yet. So he he told me in confidence and asked me not to tell anyone since the doctors want to do that other check to make sure. “
Thus began a period of despair for this young man.
I fell into despair. Knowing about Saint Nectarius, about whom a close friend of mine told me and about the miracles he was performing. From the very beginning of my knowledge of the health problem I have been praying to St. Nektarios. Even though I had been praying to him for a while and visiting the Rakovica monastery where some pieces of his relics are, as soon as i got this news from my club doctor i went to the agency and booked a plane ticket for the next day and immediately went to Athens. From there I took boat to Aegina to the monastery of Saint Nectarius to venerate and pay homage to his relics and grave and to I pray to him. “
As soon as he did that second test, he returned to Serbia.
“After a long time of not being called and not receiving any information from the doctor, I decided to call him. I ask him what was going on, why he was not answering me, and what happened to the other test. He told me in a surprised voice that it was just strange, but the second test was good and showed no changes. This clinic that took care of me consulted with one eminent Swiss clinic who confirmed that the results were fine.I was overjoyed and grateful to God, the Holy Virgin and the Holy Nektarios.
By the way, Serbs celebrate Saint Nectarios of Aegina on November 22nd.
